My client is looking for an Insurance Lead Advisor/Controller to work in Essex (anywhere), working from home (occasionally you will be asked to go into their London Office), with the flexibility to work 12 – 15hrs minimum and you can work more if you desire.

Please note this is a permanent position but giving you the opportunity to work less hours however, a minimum of 12hrs per week. £30,000 - £50,000K pro rata depending on the level of experience you can bring to the table. Also, location is flexible, anywhere from Southend into London.

Job purpose:

  • Manage the team to deliver quality standards and Service Level targets through effective performance management.                                 
  • Assist with the regular reviews of team members, inspire, motivate, coach and develop the team to achieve outstanding performance through personal leadership styles and behaviours.                                                             
  • Facilitate change through personal commitment and ownership of organisational initiatives.                                                          

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the regular reviews of team members, inspire, motivate, coach and develop the team to achieve outstanding performance through personal leadership styles and behaviours.                                                             
  • Facilitate change through personal commitment and ownership of organisational initiatives.                                                          
  • Achieve service level agreements.                                                                        
  • Is fully aware of how they and their team contribute to the business plan and communicates this to team members.  
  • Achieve recruitment, retention and succession plans.                                

Decision Making:

  • Supervision of the team within company guidelines, procedures & risk appetite and sign off from Technical Manager.                                                                  
  • Supervision of individual team members assessment of competency and core appraisal measures, quantity, quality, flexibility and competence.                                                                                                                                                

Skills required:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the General Insurance Industry.
  • Ability to interpret underwriting documentation and have meaningful discussions with class underwriters.
  • Comprehensive leadership skills.
  • Persuasive communication and negotiating skills.
  • Able to lead and implement change.                    
  • Analytical and report writing skills.
  • Ability to coach others and to provide effective feedback.                                                                                   

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • CERT CII.
  • Market knowledge, structure, practices and regulation.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of direct and reinsurance placements.
  • Knowledge of risk identification, escalation, and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of Operational Controls framework.
