My client is looking for an Insurance Lead Advisor/Controller to work in Essex (anywhere), working from home (occasionally you will be asked to go into their London Office), with the flexibility to work 12 – 15hrs minimum and you can work more if you desire.
Please note this is a permanent position but giving you the opportunity to work less hours however, a minimum of 12hrs per week. £30,000 - £50,000K pro rata depending on the level of experience you can bring to the table. Also, location is flexible, anywhere from Southend into London.
Job purpose:
- Manage the team to deliver quality standards and Service Level targets through effective performance management.
- Assist with the regular reviews of team members, inspire, motivate, coach and develop the team to achieve outstanding performance through personal leadership styles and behaviours.
- Facilitate change through personal commitment and ownership of organisational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

- Achieve service level agreements.
- Is fully aware of how they and their team contribute to the business plan and communicates this to team members.
- Achieve recruitment, retention and succession plans.
Decision Making:
- Supervision of the team within company guidelines, procedures & risk appetite and sign off from Technical Manager.
- Supervision of individual team members assessment of competency and core appraisal measures, quantity, quality, flexibility and competence.
Skills required:
- At least 3 years’ experience in the General Insurance Industry.
- Ability to interpret underwriting documentation and have meaningful discussions with class underwriters.
- Comprehensive leadership skills.
- Persuasive communication and negotiating skills.
- Able to lead and implement change.
- Analytical and report writing skills.
- Ability to coach others and to provide effective feedback.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
- CERT CII.
- Market knowledge, structure, practices and regulation.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of direct and reinsurance placements.
- Knowledge of risk identification, escalation, and mitigation.
- Knowledge of Operational Controls framework.
